TEMPLE FILLER BELLEVUE AND KIRKLAND

Most people consider wrinkles some of the earliest signs of aging. However, along with wrinkles, many areas of the face can lose volume. Especially in thinner or athletic individuals, this can lead to a face that looks gaunt and older than their true age. One of the areas most susceptible to this facial thinning is the temples. Located at the sides of your forehead near your eyebrows, the temples can become concave as you age. This may lead to the brows prematurely sagging and an aged look. Thankfully, dermal fillers can fill in the temples for a more youthful appearance. The Gallery of Cosmetic Surgery offers the best temple filler Bellevue and Kirkland can provide.

OVERVIEW: WHAT IS TEMPLE FILLER?

Temple filler, also known as temporal filler, is a non-surgical way to fill in hollowed or dented temples. It uses dermal filler injections to treat the signs of aging or provide a desired cosmetic effect such as more raised brows or cat eye look.

As people age, the face tends to lose fat. In people who are athletic or thin, this can especially lead to a gaunt appearance which may prematurely age them. The temples are one area of the face prone to such thinning and fat loss. For patients experiencing this, there may not be many options beyond filler injections or a surgical procedure. Temple fillers offer the least invasive and lowest cost option.

Uses

As previously mentioned, one of the main uses of temple fillers is to alleviate the signs of aging. However, patients may also seek temporal filler in Bellevue for other reasons. Among some of the uses of temple fillers include:

  • Fill in hollowed temples

  • Lift the brows
  • Create a “cat eye” effect (this can also address crow’s feet)

  • Address overall facial aging

    TYPES OF FILLERS

Multiple types of dermal fillers can be used in the temples. Hyaluronic acid fillers, Sculptra, Radiesse, and fat transfer can all fill in hollowed temples. The best temple filler for you depends on a variety of factors including your skin quality, the extent of the hollowing, medical conditions you may have, and your preferences. Your injector will discuss these options with you during your consultation.

    Hyaluronic Acid Fillers

The most frequently used filler in the temple is hyaluronic acid fillers, sometimes known as HA fillers. Common HA fillers include Juvederm and Restylane fillers which our injectors may recommend for your Bellevue temple filler. Hyaluronic acid fillers are widely considered safe and used in many other areas of the face including the under eyes, lips, and cheeks

Hyaluronic acid fillers are temporary and tend to last between three months and two years depending on the one you choose. While this may seem like a downside for some patients, hyaluronic acid fillers are a great starting point for temple fillers. They are also reversible, unlike Sculptra or Radiesse. This gives patients more control over the look of their filler and allows them to experiment with different fillers and looks when they refresh their temple filler.

Hyaluronic acid fillers often used for Kirkland temple filler injections include:

    • Restylane Lyft
    • Juvederm Voluma
    • Restylane Defyne

    Sculptra

Sculptra is a semi-permanent dermal filler made of poly-L-lactic acid. It promotes collagen production and skin rejuvenation in the injection sites to increase natural fullness. This may contribute to less of a need to refresh injections, longer lasting results, and more time between injection appointments.

Sculptra is administered in a series of three appointments for the initial injections. Each session is spaced about four to six weeks apart. Once you finish this round of Sculptra, you may then only need yearly injections to maintain your results and continue to promote collagen production. This is a great option because the temples tend to need more filler than other areas like the nasolabial folds. Therefore, a filler that lasts longer may be more beneficial.

    Fat Transfer

Another possible solution to fill in the temple area is to perform a fat transfer procedure. While this is a surgical procedure, for patients wanting to see a more permanent result, fat transfer may be an option. During this procedure, Dr. Jonov will liposuction fat from an area on your body, purify the harvested fat, and then inject it into your temple area.

Some fat will absorb back into the body naturally, but Dr. Jonov will account for this by adding extra fat to achieve the results you want. The fat that takes hold in the temple and face area will then act like all the other fat on your face. This provides natural results and can also address other areas of volume loss during the same surgery.

    BEFORE AND AFTER TEMPLE FILLER

    Consultation

Before undergoing temple filler in Bellevue, you will meet with your injector to discuss your goals, medical history, and determine if you are a good candidate. First, your injector will ask about the concerns you have and what you want to achieve with Bellevue temple filler. Next, they may ask about certain aspects of your medical history and lifestyle. Finally, they will conduct a brief physical exam of the area to decide if filler is the best option for you.

If your provider believes that you are a good candidate for temporal filler in Bellevue, they will then discuss the procedure in detail with you including the benefits and risks. They will then answer any questions and provide you with pricing information.

    Injections

Occasionally, your provider may perform your injections on the same day. Otherwise, you may come back later for your temple filler injections. Regardless, your injector will start by wiping the injection sites with an alcohol wipe to disinfect them. They will then discuss the procedure and type of filler. Your injector will then offer numbing cream. This takes about fifteen to twenty minutes to numb. You can choose to forego numbing cream if you want.

While you numb, your injector will prepare the filler. Once numb, your injector will begin the filler injections. This will probably take around ten to twenty minutes to complete. You can also undergo additional filler injections at the same time if you like. When injections are finished, they may lightly massage it and will give you aftercare instructions.

    Aftercare

Immediately after your injections, you will likely see a difference in the look of your temples and face. In the hours following, the look may change as swelling and bruising settle in. These side effects should resolve within two weeks or so.

Patients can return to their daily activities after injections. Your provider may request that you avoid strenuous activities and exercise for a day or two. You will also need to avoid saunas and use caution in the sun. Otherwise, you are free to work and live your life as normal.

    FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is Filler In The Temples Dangerous?

Filler in the temples requires an experienced injector as there are many blood vessels and nerve endings in the area. This does make the procedure slightly more precarious than other dermal filler injections. With that said, complications from temple fillers are extremely rare.

Overall, temporal filler is a safe procedure when seeking an experienced injector. To increase the safety of the injections, your injector may also use a cannula which makes it extremely difficult to cause an obstruction. Your injector will discuss all the risks with you before your injections and make sure you are at low risk for complications.

Will Filler In Temples Lift Eyes?

It can, yes. Since the temples are close to the eyes, temple filler can provide a slight lifting effect to the eyes. This can treat or diminish the appearance of crow’s feet wrinkles as well as create the “cat eye” look popular at the moment. Additionally, temple filler can achieve a lifting effect for the brows.

What Is The Best Filler For Your Temples?

The temples tend to require a thicker filler and more filler than other areas. Therefore, dermal fillers such as Restylane Defyne, Juvederm Voluma, Radiesse, and Sculptra are often preferred because they provide the longest lasting, natural looking results. Since the temple area is bony, these fillers provide the best results.

However, most dermal fillers are safe to use in the temples and the right filler for you is ultimately dependent on your situation and anatomy. Your provider will discuss with you the options for your Kirkland temple filler and which may benefit you most.

    How Long Does It Last?

On average, temple filler lasts about six to twelve months. This is longer than many other areas such as lip filler because of the use of thicker fillers and the area sees less overall movement. If you choose a filler such as Radiesse or Sculptra, you may see results that last even longer, often two years or more in ideal circumstances.

What Is The Cost Of Temple Filler?

The cost of temple filler will vary depending on the chosen filler and the amount you require. Your provider will discuss this with you during your consultation. To see our starting filler prices and get a rough idea of the overall cost, visit our Price Simulator™ and price list.
