The nasolabial folds–or the laugh lines–often deepen and become more pronounced over time. This can lead to an aged appearance. Whether you were born with the lines extending from your nose to your mouth, or you developed them later in life, many patients want to reduce the prominence of these lines for a refreshed and more youthful appearance. Radiesse is a FDA approved long-lasting injectable used to treat the lower face and hands. Dr. Jonov and the nurse injectors at The Gallery of Cosmetic Surgery offers artistically injected Radiesse to the Seattle, Bellevue, and Kirkland areas.

WHAT IS RADIESSE USED FOR?

Radiesse was originally approved and used for filling nasolabial folds. However, it has been approved for and used in many other cosmetic injectable treatments. Seattle Radiesse can be used to:

While most applications of Radiesse are on the lower face, this filler is not suitable for lip augmentation. Similarly, Radiesse is a thick filler that should not be used in the tear trough area.  However, if you want to treat your lips or under eyes along with another area Radiesse treats, you can use Juvederm or Restylane fillers concurrently to provide your face with ultimate revitalization.

How Does It Work?

Radiesse is different from other dermal and hyaluronic acid fillers because it is made of calcium hydroxyapatite. This is essentially calcium suspended in a water-based gel. Medical professionals use calcium hydroxyapatite for a wide array of medical applications because calcium supports our natural structures and is biodegradable.

In addition to working as a volumetric filler within treatment areas, Radiesse works biologically by stimulating collagen production to help create more permanent results. Collagen in the protein in our body that keeps our skin bouncy and youthful. It also contributes to new skin production and wound healing.

THE PROCEDURE

Your provider will administer your Radiesse in our state-of-the-art treatment facility. Treatment usually takes between 15 and 30 minutes depending on the treatment areas and extent of treatment.

Once your injector begins your injections, they will target the specific areas you want to treat, using a small needle to inject product into the areas. The amount of Radiesse used will depend on your goals and your unique treatment.

When you leave our office, you can expect to see some immediate results. Your face may still be slightly swollen and the filler will take time to settle. Once the swelling subsides, you will continue to see gradual increases in volume as your collagen production increases.

Does Radiesse Hurt?

Your Radiesse injections can be performed with or without a topical anesthetic. The filler contains lidocaine, which makes your injections comfortable. Therefore, you should feel little or no pain or discomfort during your treatment. We do offer topic anesthetic options if you choose.

    BELLEVUE RADIESSE RECOVERY

As a non-surgical treatment, there is no downtime required after Radiesse injections in Bellevue. You may experience some side effects typical of any injection treatment such as bruising, redness, pain, and swelling. These side effects should not require any prescription medications and should resolve quickly after treatment.

Radiesse rarely causes major complications, especially when injected by a professional injector like those at The Gallery of Cosmetic Surgery. Ensuring your are a viable candidate and following your provider’s instructions will help reduce the risk of side effects and complications.

Blood thinning agents such as warfarin, Ibuprofen, Aspirin, and fish oil supplements among others can increase and prolong bruising. Most providers will recommend avoiding these medications for a short time before and after treatment, if possible.

Most patients return to work immediately or the next day after Radiesse in Bellevue. As it is a noninvasive treatment with rapid recovery (if any is necessary), a patient’s life is normally not interrupted by Radiesse. Additionally, your provider may ask you to avoid vigorous exercise and activities for a few days following your injections because this will allow the filler to settle optimally.

    How Long Does Radiesse Last?

When injected by a professional injector, you can expect the filler to last up to a year or more. Every patient’s body will respond to the filler differently, meaning that your body could break it down quicker or slower than the average. You can expect to have your Radiesse refreshed around once a year. Luckily, because of how Radiesse stimulates your body’s healing response, it can produce more permanent results that improve after each treatment.
