MASSETER BOTOX BELLEVUE & KIRKLAND | JAW BOTOX BELLEVUE & KIRKLAND

BOTOX injections have a reputation for addressing fine lines and wrinkles in the upper face. It also has certain uses in treating medical conditions like migraines and hyperhidrosis. As studies continue, more cosmetic and medical indications of BOTOX continue to emerge. One of these treatments is the BOTOX lip flip which is an alternative for lip filler and causes the upper lip to show more. This can treat a thin upper lip. One treatment that bridges both the cosmetic and medical treatments is masseter BOTOX. Also called jaw BOTOX, it can slim the face and treat TMJ as well as other conditions. The injectors at Northwest Face & Body provide the best jaw BOTOX Bellevue and Kirkland offers.

OVERVIEW: WHAT IS JAW BOTOX?

Neurotoxin injections into the jaw usually involve injecting BOTOX into the masseter muscle. The masseter muscle is the facial muscle responsible for raising the lower jaw. In certain situations, the masseter can become overdeveloped and particularly strong. While there is nothing wrong with this, it can physically widen the face. This can happen in people who chew gum frequently. However, it is most common in people with TMJ or who grind their teeth.

TMJ is a condition that involves dysfunction of normal jaw movement. This can cause pain, clicking and locking of the jaw, and can interfere with eating. Additionally, teeth grinding can occur for several reasons, but may cause the masseter to become overdeveloped. The plastic surgeons and injectors at Northwest Face & Body can administer Bellevue BOTOX to treat these cosmetic and medical concerns.

Uses

As described, masseter BOTOX can aid in the treatment of various concerns. The most common application is using it to thin the jaw muscle for non-surgical facial slimming. Among the medical and cosmetic conditions that jaw BOTOX can address include:

HOW BOTOX WORKS

BOTOX is an injectable, crystalline form of Botulinum toxin A. This toxin is derived from the same toxin as the one that causes botulism. However, BOTOX cannot cause botulism. When injected by a licensed provider and using verified product, you can get the full benefit of BOTOX injections.

The BOTOX toxin blocks signals sent to the injection sites. It then causes temporary and partial paralysis of the muscles or nerves where it is injected. This prevents specific movements, such as the ones that cause pain or teeth grinding. In the case of facial slimming, the BOTOX eventually thins and wears down the masseter muscle for a longer lasting slim look.

MASSETER BOTOX BEFORE AND AFTER

Consultation

Before undergoing Bellevue masseter BOTOX injections, you will meet with an injector or plastic surgeon at Northwest Face & Body. Your provider will ask about your goals for the procedure and concerns. They may then as relevant questions about your medical history and lifestyle to ensure you can receive the best results from BOTOX. In the end, they will examine your jaw and face to determine if you are a good candidate.

Since jaw BOTOX is a quick procedure, your provider may inject the BOTOX at the same appointment. Otherwise, they will discuss the procedure, the likely number of units, and the results you can expect.

Treatment

To begin the injections, your provider will offer a topical anesthetic to numb the area. If you choose topical anesthetic, they will prepare the BOTOX while you numb. This takes on average about ten or twenty minutes. If you decide to forego anesthesia, your provider will proceed with cleaning and sanitizing the injection site with alcohol.

Your provider will then perform the injections. There are about four different injection sites that your provider may use to achieve your goals. The exact sites and techniques will vary between patients. Your provider will inject on each side, possibly focusing more on one if you have notable asymmetry.

The injections can take anywhere from ten to thirty minutes based on the specifics of your masseter BOTOX in Bellevue. You should remain comfortable during treatment and can immediately return to your daily activities.

    FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How Long Does Masseter BOTOX Last?

The amount of time patients can enjoy their BOTOX will vary widely between patients. Factors such as your metabolism, lifestyle, number of units of BOTOX received, and environmental influences can all determine how long BOTOX lasts.

In general, patients see their masseter BOTOX last for around six months. Some patients may see masseter BOTOX last for up to a year. Due to the way masseter BOTOX works, it slowly thins the masseter muscle, which can lead to better results with each treatment. In some cases, patients can refresh their BOTOX less once they reach the results they want.

Is BOTOX For TMJ Covered By Insurance?

Some insurance companies may cover BOTOX for the treatment of TMJ. This will vary between company and plan. At Northwest Face & Body, we do not accept insurance for BOTOX injections. However, we do accept outside financing options such as Care Credit. Patients can also sign up for the BOTOX rewards program to save money on their injections over time.

Will It Be Hard To Eat?

Once the BOTOX takes full effect, you should not find it difficult to eat or carry out other normal activities using your jaw. However, in the two weeks following the injections, you may feel some temporary stiffness or pain while chewing. This will go away in two weeks or less.

    Is The Jaw Thinning Permanent?

BOTOX will eventually wear off. Although, with continued treatment, you may see the masseter muscle begin to thin. While you can certainly build the muscle back up again, this may allow you to undergo fewer treatments or cease them. If the overdevelopment of the masseter muscle occurred due to a particular issue such as teeth grinding, you will need to continue BOTOX to prevent this from happening again.

BOTOX pricing varies based on the number of units you need and other specifics of the procedure. Generally, patients can expect to spend between $200 and $500 for masseter BOTOX in Kirkland.
