Chin Reduction in Belleview

Ever catch yourself adjusting how you pose in photos because your chin feels a little too noticeable? It’s more common than you’d think. Subtle habits like favoring one side or tilting your head can often trace back to how a single facial feature makes you feel. If your chin tends to throw off the balance of your face, a chin reduction might help bring things back into harmony. At The Gallery of Cosmetic Surgery, we offer this procedure to help refine the lower face without making you look like a different person.

What is Chin Reduction?

Chin reduction, also called reduction genioplasty, is a surgical procedure that adjusts the shape or size of the chin bone. By shaving or contouring the bone and modifying soft tissue as needed, it creates a more proportional lower face. The idea isn’t to erase your features but to align them with the rest of your face.

Benefits of Chin Reduction Surgery

Some commonly seen benefits of chin reduction surgery include:

  •  A smoother side profile
  • A softer contour along the lower face
  • More balanced facial proportions
  • Long-lasting results that won’t shift over time

Who is a Good Candidate?

You might be a good candidate for chin reduction in Bellevue if you:

  • Have a prominent or protruding chin
  • Feel your chin doesn’t quite match the rest of your face
  • Are 20 years or older
  • Are in good general and mental health
  • Understand the process and have realistic expectations
  • Have no active jaw or dental issues

What to Expect from the Surgery

Your first step is a consultation at The Gallery of Cosmetic Surgery in Bellevue. Dr. Jonov will examine your facial structure and provide a customized surgical plan.

The procedure usually lasts between one and two hours and is done under general anesthesia. An incision is made either inside your mouth or just below your chin. Using this, Dr. Jonov carefully reshapes the bone, removing or reducing it to align with your features. In some cases, soft tissue adjustments are also made. Once everything looks balanced, the incision is closed, and you’ll be cleared to go home the same day.

Recovery and Aftercare

The healing process is straightforward. There can be swelling, bruising, and minor discomfort in the first few days. A compression bandage is usually worn for 3 to 5 days to control swelling and support recovery.

Most patients return to work or light activity in 7 to 10 days. Strenuous activity, heavy lifting, and intense workouts should be avoided for at least 3 to 4 weeks. If the incision is placed inside the mouth, you may be advised to stick to a soft food diet and use a special mouth rinse to reduce the risk of infection.

Swelling starts to improve in the first week; however, it might last for several weeks. Most patients see results within 4 to 6 weeks, with final changes visible over the next few months.

We provide detailed aftercare instructions and schedule follow-up visits to monitor your healing and ensure the best outcome. Our team is available to guide you every step of the way, from surgery day through your final results.

Results Chin Reduction Surgery

Since the surgery changes the structure of the bone, the results are considered permanent. While natural aging can eventually affect the skin and soft tissues around the chin, the bone itself won’t return to its previous shape. Most patients don’t require a revision unless something specific changes.

Chin Reduction Surgery Cost

At The Gallery of Cosmetic Surgery, chin reduction surgery starts at $8,995, which includes the surgeon’s fee, anesthesia, and facility charges. You’ll receive a full breakdown during your consultation. We also work with CareCredit® and offer in-house payment options to make things easier.

During/After Chin Augmentation Surgery

Chin augmentation is an outpatient procedure. We perform this surgery on patients under general anesthesia at an accredited surgical facility.  The entire surgery typically takes about an hour, but it could take longer depending on the technique used. Recovery from this surgery usually takes about 4-6 weeks.  During this time, the swelling, discomfort and numbness that occurs in the chin and lower lip will gradually improve.  Most patients are pleased with their results and feel that they have a stronger, more defined profile because of the surgery.

    FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How long is the recovery after chin reduction?

Most people can return to light activities or work within 7 to 10 days. Full activity should wait for at least a month.

What are the risks of chin reduction surgery?

Like any surgery, chin reduction carries some risks. These can include temporary numbness, swelling, infection, or irregular bone healing; however, major issues are rare.

    Are chin reduction results permanent?

Yes, the changes made during chin reduction are considered permanent because the bone itself is reshaped. While natural aging may subtly affect your facial features over time, the new chin structure will remain stable.

Can chin reduction be combined with other procedures?

Yes, it can be combined with other procedures such as rhinoplasty, neck liposuction, or a mini facelift.

Will I have visible scars after chin reduction?

In most cases, no visible scars are left behind. Surgeons often place the incision inside the mouth or discreetly under the chin, which heals well and leaves minimal to no visible scarring.
