What Is The Difference Between Abdominoplasty and Fleur de Lis?

By | Tummy Tuck, Body | No Comments
An abdominoplasty, also known as a tummy tuck, is a popular plastic surgery that involves removing extra skin and small portions of fat from the abdomen. However, not all tummy tucks are the same, there are several different types. The most common are mini, standard, and extended tummy tucks. There is a less frequently performed technique called a fleur de lis tummy tuck. What is the difference between abdominoplasty and fleur de lis?   A standard abdominoplasty uses an incision that spans along the lower abdomen. The extent of the incision depends on the type of tummy tuck, but the most common is one that goes from hip to hip. A fleur de lis tummy tuck also uses this incision, but also includes a vertical incision, creating a shape similar to a fleur de lis. The length of both the horizontal and vertical incisions depends on the patient’s goals and anatomy.   Dr. Jonov may recommend a fleur de lis tummy tuck if the extra skin extends up to the waist or upper abdomen. It is common for patients who have lost massive amounts of weight to benefit greatly from this tummy tuck technique. While the incisions and subsequent scarring have a chance of being more extensive, the procedure can completely change the look of the body, especially in clothing.   To find out whether a traditional tummy tuck or a fleur de lis abdominoplasty is best for you, schedule a consultation with Dr. Jonov at The Gallery of Cosmetic Surgery. He specializes in the fleur de lis technique and has widely performed the procedure. To schedule, call us at 425-775-3561. You can also reach out online via Price Simulator®, chat, or contact form.

Can You Still Have Children After A BBL?

By | Brazilian Butt Lift | No Comments
Having children after plastic surgery is one of the most frequently asked questions in our consultation rooms. For certain surgeries, such as tummy tuck, Dr. Jonov will almost always recommend waiting until you are done having children before the procedure. Other surgeries like breast augmentation, it is perfectly fine to have kids after. Though, having children will almost always impact the look of your results. Let’s take a look at a procedure not always talked about in this discussion, “Can you still have children after a BBL?” The answer is generally yes. There is nothing risky about pregnancy or having kids, as long as you have fully recovered. Though, like with other surgeries, it does have the potential to alter your results permanently. Usually, the buttocks are not too affected by the changes associated with childrearing. However, the areas of liposuction can be. Additionally, you may see the weight come in in other areas not treated with liposuction. Unlike a tummy tuck though, the overall results of a Brazilian butt lift are not typically undone by having kids. You can expect to maintain the fullness and shape of your booty after pregnancy. Other factors can influence this such as weight loss or gain, medical conditions, etc. Most patients see no major changes in their buttocks following pregnancy.  To schedule a free consultation, call us at 425-775-3561. What Is The Age Limit For A Tummy Tuck?

By | Tummy Tuck | No Comments
Tummy tuck surgery consistently ranks among the top plastic surgeries performed around the world, especially for women who tend to carry more weight in their lower tummy. However, many prospective patients worry that they are too old for a tummy tuck. The average age for the procedure falls around 42. Is 50 or 60 too old for a tummy tuck? What is the age limit for a tummy tuck? Plastic surgery–as long as performed in a healthy patient who could benefit from the procedure–generally there is no hard age limit. If a 60-year-old patient is a good candidate for a tummy tuck and healthy enough to undergo the surgery and recovery, they have the procedure. However, conversely, there may be a 35-year-old patient who is a good candidate, but due to a medical condition cannot undergo the surgery. Dr. Jonov may advise younger patients to use caution when seeking tummy tuck surgery. While most adults 18 or older can have a tummy tuck, pregnancy and having kids can reverse results as can major weight fluctuations. Therefore, in some cases, Dr. Jonov may actually advise patients to wait until they are older for an abdominoplasty plastic surgery. How Much Weight Do You Lose With A Mommy Makeover?

Many patients who undergo a mommy makeover have experienced changes in or struggled with their weight. They often seek out this procedure to correct the damage or changes in their body due to weight fluctuations. Therefore, some patients sometimes still carry some weight when they come in for surgery. Does this mean you cannot have surgery? Will it eliminate all of this weight? How much weight do you lose with a mommy makeover? Let’s answer these questions.

Weight & Mommy Makeover

People who have had children do tend to carry extra weight due to this for various reasons. Hormones, age, genetics, having a C-section, and many other factors all contribute to this extra weight. Due to this, post-baby weight can be especially difficult, if not impossible to lose.  At your mommy makeover consultation, Dr. Jonov will evaluate if you are healthy enough to undergo a mommy makeover surgery. Typically, as long as you are not obese and fairly healthy, you may be a good candidate. That said, it is recommended that patients be between five and twenty-five pounds of their goal weight before surgery. Why? A mommy makeover is not a weight loss surgery. While it may include procedures that remove fat such as liposuction and a tummy tuck, these procedures do not remove large amounts of fat. Most of the time during any plastic surgery, patients do not lose more than ten pounds during surgery. Mommy makeover surgery can be a motivator to lose weight–both before and after the procedure. Many patients do not need to lose any or a significant amount of weight before surgery. However, if it is necessary, Dr. Jonov will discuss this with you during your consultation.

Mommy Makeover Surgery

The exact outcome of a mommy makeover depends on the procedures involved. A mommy makeover is an extremely customizable procedure. Traditionally, the surgery is a combination of breast surgery (like breast augmentation) and a tummy procedure (like a tummy tuck). Though, a mommy makeover is not limited to two procedures or to breast and stomach surgeries.  A mommy makeover can include nearly any combination of procedures. However, it usually contains at least one breast and/or tummy surgery. Some of the procedures that can be a part of a mommy makeover are: Dr. Jonov will discuss your options for mommy makeover and what procedures will help you reach your cosmetic goals. Every mommy makeover is custom tailored to fit each patient’s unique desires and needs. As an experienced plastic surgeon with over two decades in the field, Dr. Jonov brings his expertise to every consultation to advise you on your mommy makeover journey.  To learn more about mommy makeover surgery in Bellevue and to schedule a consultation, call us at 425-775-3561. The Benefits Of VASER Liposuction

By | Liposuction | No Comments
VASER liposuction is a type of liposuction that uses ultrasound technology to liquefy the fat and tighten the skin. VASER lipo is often combined with more traditional liposuction techniques to provide further toning and skin tightening. When considering their options, patients often inquire about the benefits of VASER liposuction, especially in comparison to regular liposuction techniques.    VASER liposuction is similar to traditional liposuction in that it often uses tumescent to break up the fat and requires small incisions. However, it is generally considered a more gentle and less invasive form of liposuction. It also has the ability to target fat more precisely which leads to better muscle definition than traditional lipo.    One of the biggest advantages of VASER liposuction is its skin tightening properties. Occasionally, patients will not see their skin retract enough following a liposuction procedure. This is unlikely in an ideal liposuction candidate, however, VASER can help the skin contract following surgery for a tighter physique.    Overall, the main benefits of VASER lipo is that it allows Dr. Jonov to be more precise during liposuction. It also promote skin and tissue tightening for better Bellevue liposuction results. To schedule a consultation, call us at 425-775-3561. Arm Lift Bellevue: Does Arm Lift Surgery Leave Scars?

By | Arm Lift | No Comments
Colloquially referred to as “bat wings”, this arm appearance can occur due to many factors such as aging, weight loss, and weight gain. Since an arm lift can achieve thinner, better proportioned arms, many patients become interested in the results of an arm lift. One of the most commonly asked questions is, “Does arm lift surgery leave scars?” Arm lift surgery does leave scars. One of the realities of arm lift surgery is that scars are not as easy to hide as those from other plastic surgeries like breast augmentation or tummy tuck. Arm lift scars usually are on the back or inside of the arms. Not often visible at first glance, the scars are not always immediately obvious.  Luckily, not every patient will develop noticeable scars. There are also many ways you can minimize the look of scarring during healing. Also, caring for your scars and keeping them protected from the sun and elements during healing can aid healing. Additionally, Dr. Jonov will make every effort to keep scars as thin, short, and inconspicuous as possible. For many patients, arm lift scars are worth it and they find themselves happier with their new arms following surgery. Dr. Jonov can advise you on your options for achieving the arms you want. Tummy Tuck Bellevue: Can A Mini Tummy Tuck Fix Diastasis Recti?

By | Tummy Tuck, Body | No Comments
The abdominal muscles are conjoined and held together by tendons, ligaments, and tissues. Comprised of various muscles, in their ideal state the abdominal muscles stay tight and joined together. However, diastasis recti is the separation of these muscles. This can occur in a variety of ways. For example, some diastasis recti only affect the top or bottom abdominal muscles. While not dangerous, diastasis recti often require surgical correction, which a tummy tuck can provide. Patients usually wonder, “can a mini tummy tuck fix diastasis recti?” The answer is a partial yes. If diastasis recti is only present in the lower abdominal muscles, muscle plication may adequately address it. Yet, if the condition extends beyond the lowest abdominal muscles it may require a full tummy tuck to correct. Diastasis recti causes a bulge in the stomach and can cause the “pooch” appearance of the stomach that a tummy tuck corrects. Dr. Jonov can determine if you have diastasis recti and which type of tummy tuck will best correct it and give you the results you are looking for. In most cases of diastasis recti, a full tummy tuck is required to fully repair the separation. To learn more about diastasis recti and schedule a consultation, call us at 425-775-3561. BBL Bellevue: Does Mommy Makeover Include BBL?

By | Brazilian Butt Lift | No Comments
A common question that patients often ask a mommy makeover consultation is: does mommy makeover include BBL? This question is not as straightforward as it seems because a mommy makeover is a highly customizable procedure.    Traditionally, a mommy makeover is a combination of plastic surgeries that address the areas of the body affected most by pregnancy and childbirth, the breasts and abdomen. Most mommy makeover surgeries in Bellevue will focus on these areas exclusively. Occasionally, patients will also be interested in a Brazilian butt lift to fully enhance their bodily contours.    It is possible to add a BBL to a mommy makeover. Depending on the patient, Dr. Jonov may choose to split the procedures into two surgical sessions. Breast and tummy procedures complement each other well and are usually safe to perform together. Adding on a BBL adds on significant surgical time and depending on the other procedures may not be safe to perform all at once.    Based on the other procedures part of your Bellevue mommy makeover and your medical history, it may be safe to have a BBL as part of your mommy makeover. The best way to find out whether BBL surgery can be part of your mommy makeover is to consult with expert Bellevue plastic surgeon, Dr. Craig Jonov. BBL Bellevue: What Are Side Effects Of A Brazilian Butt Lift?

By | Body, Brazilian Butt Lift | No Comments
A Brazilian butt lift is a plastic surgery that enlarges the buttocks and can create the desired shape. During the procedure, Dr. Jonov liposuctions fat from one or more areas of the body and transfer it into the buttocks. At a consultation, many patients ask, “What are side effects of a Brazilian butt lift?”  The side effects of a BBL are similar to that of other fat transfer surgeries. Swelling at the liposuction site and the transfer site is normal. Some discomfort and pain are expected after surgery. Dr. Jonov will prescribe pain medications to manage this and an antibiotic to prevent infection.  Bruising is another side effect some patients see. Any bruising usually resolves within a week after surgery. You can prevent bruising by avoiding certain over-the-counter painkillers like ibuprofen and Aspirin. Following Dr. Jonov’s pre-operative instructions will also aid in mitigating bruising. When patients ask, “What are side effects of a Brazilian butt lift?” they may also want to know about complications. Major complications due to a Brazilian butt lift are rare when performed by an expert cosmetic surgeon like Dr. Jonov. During your consultation, Dr. Jonov can discuss the side effects and risks of a BBL procedure. To schedule a consultation with Dr. Jonov, call us at 425-775-3561 or contact us online.

Non-Invasive BBL: The Best Bellevue BBL

By | Brazilian Butt Lift | No Comments
A Brazilian butt lift is a surgical procedure that transfers fat from one area of the body and into the buttocks. Dr. Jonov performs liposuction on one or multiple areas to sculpt new contours and enhance the size and shape of the booty. Most cosmetic surgery patients desire the least invasive surgery possible. At The Gallery of Cosmetic Surgery, Dr. Jonov performs non-invasive BBL surgeries and provides non-surgical options.    For surgical options, Dr. Jonov uses a minimal incision for the liposuction cannula and injects the fat with precision. In most cases, a BBL is a fairly non-invasive surgery overall. Liposuction encompasses the most invasive aspect of the surgery in most cases.   Non-surgical BBLs have become more popular and usually do not require general anesthesia like a surgical Brazilian butt lift. Non-surgical Brazilian butt lift procedures typically use Sculptra, natural growth factors, or a combination for non-surgical butt augmentation. These are some of the least invasive BBL methods.  Dr. Craig Jonov of The Gallery of Cosmetic Surgery performs many Brazilian butt lift procedures every month and is among one of the best Bellevue cosmetic surgeons.
